and I'm feeling good

Welcome, folks, to Light of a New Day. This blog project was started back in 2010 by Jake and Sydnee. Over the years, several others have left their mark, by contributing articles, their time, and love for Christ. The blog has went through some dry spells, because - let's face it - we all have moments where posting happy thoughts isn't quite possible. For Jake and Syd both, someone shot the bird dead out of the sky. Unfortunately for them, that bird was a phoenix - and baby, it's back. What you can expect are posts. Maybe not regular, and maybe not all of them will be happy. This phoenix is an honest phoenix, life isn't perfect - and people need to stop acting and teaching like it is. This is Light of a New Day. a REAL day. If you have any thoughts or comments, would like to drop us a contribution, or would like to join our team - drop me a line at trun4rth@yahoo.com

Daily Devotion, August 26th, 10

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. – 1 Peter 3:15-16

Yet another scripture stressing the importance of discipleship. In this world, I have experienced that the atheist's are more zealous than the most religious of people. What Peter is saying here is not to make non-believers jealous of our love for Christ, but to witness our model, and feel ashamed that they aren't striving to be beacon's of light. Jealousy is a sin, some say it is a deadly sin. Jealousy doesn't lead a person to seek forgiveness, but to be hostile, and combative. Shame acknowledges wrongdoing, and as such, activates your conscience, and leaves one looking for something more, something to better themselves. This doesn't call for brute conversion here, just subtle glimpses at God's Kingdom.

You know what I think about with this is that we are called to be the salt and light! Salt makes people thirsty and we have to live our lives to make those who see us thrist for the love of Christ...that love that lights up our life!
