and I'm feeling good

Welcome, folks, to Light of a New Day. This blog project was started back in 2010 by Jake and Sydnee. Over the years, several others have left their mark, by contributing articles, their time, and love for Christ. The blog has went through some dry spells, because - let's face it - we all have moments where posting happy thoughts isn't quite possible. For Jake and Syd both, someone shot the bird dead out of the sky. Unfortunately for them, that bird was a phoenix - and baby, it's back. What you can expect are posts. Maybe not regular, and maybe not all of them will be happy. This phoenix is an honest phoenix, life isn't perfect - and people need to stop acting and teaching like it is. This is Light of a New Day. a REAL day. If you have any thoughts or comments, would like to drop us a contribution, or would like to join our team - drop me a line at trun4rth@yahoo.com

Daily Update, October 4th, 10

Hey all, sorry for the lack of updates over the weekend, the majority of the staff here was busy attending a TAP retreat, which stands for TEC Ambassador Program. TEC, of course standing for Teens Encounter Christ, a religious movement based in the Catholic faith. If you are curious about TEC, and haven't gone, I strongly suggest you do so. Even if you're not a Catholic, it's an amazing experience that will help you grow spiritually. As kind of a side-project, this week will be dedicated to TEC on Light of A New Day, with relevant scriptures and other things.

On to business, today's devotion - dedicated to Mr. Mike Needleman and Steve Maxwell, who brought TAP To Mid-America TEC.

Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. – 1 Corinthians 9:19

What Paul is saying here is simple. He humbled himself, becoming poor, so that he could better facilitate service to those he would convert to Jesus. This is the keystone in discipleship, service. How are you able to serve others effectively when you put your own agenda first. Set it aside and look at the agenda's of others if you must, but it's often best to set agenda's aside. A TEC retreat operates in this way. No clocks, phones, or outside interruption, keeping you relaxed and able to set your mind to one thing, and that is Christ, our Lord.

Just a few pictures that I took over the course of the weekend, with the various tap'ers.

I saw this on postsecret today, I really liked it because it's important. You all have to realize that no matter how bad things get, suicide can never be an option. Some of us have been there before and can tell you first hand how true this is. If you even jokingly think that it's an option, stop. Stop and realize that it's not, God is the only option for your life, and he doesn't want it ended prematurely.

God bless, and we hope you have an amazing week :)
