St. Francis of Assisi

Hello all! Today we stopped in Assisi on our way to Florence. Assisi is BEAUTIFUL! Driving there was wonderful! Mountains of lush greenery! Towns built upon these mountains. I took pictures but it just does not do it justice! If you ever get the chance to come, DO! You won't regret it! We stopped at the Basilica of St. Francis today too. Though you cannot take pictures inside the basilica, we had a wonderful tour. St. Francis is buried there and they have a chapel built around his tomb. Unfortunately, it is under a bit of reconstruction due to leaking and fear of rocks falling on people. That was a bummer but you could see down there from a grate in the altar step of the chapel above. Brother Doyle allowed us to stop and pray there if we wished. I did, and let me tell you... it was amazing! Very moving. There is no word to describe it really. It brought me to tears! Anyway, it is nearly midnight here and wake up call is at 7:15 am.
