and I'm feeling good

Welcome, folks, to Light of a New Day. This blog project was started back in 2010 by Jake and Sydnee. Over the years, several others have left their mark, by contributing articles, their time, and love for Christ. The blog has went through some dry spells, because - let's face it - we all have moments where posting happy thoughts isn't quite possible. For Jake and Syd both, someone shot the bird dead out of the sky. Unfortunately for them, that bird was a phoenix - and baby, it's back. What you can expect are posts. Maybe not regular, and maybe not all of them will be happy. This phoenix is an honest phoenix, life isn't perfect - and people need to stop acting and teaching like it is. This is Light of a New Day. a REAL day. If you have any thoughts or comments, would like to drop us a contribution, or would like to join our team - drop me a line at trun4rth@yahoo.com

Three Days in a Garden

Well... in the spirit of our dedication to TEC this week, I would like to share the poem I wrote. A little bit of background: Back in April, a group of us had gone to Kansas to the Sunflower TEC center for a TAP retreat. This was our last one before graciously being allowed to bring it to Mid-America TEC. Anyway, Steve Maxwell had asked a fellow TECite, Tom Bartow, to write him a poem. He had the idea, but just wasn't a good enough poet. He said he wanted it to be about roses growing, representing the transformation that happens on TEC. He said, "The title is 'Three Days in a Garden.'" Well, I got inspired by this, so I wrote it that night. At Mid-America TAP 1, I surprised them both with a "pretty" colored and framed copy. Anyway... here goes...

Three Days in a Garden

Day one: only a bud
Just beginning to bloom
Scared of the thorns surrounding it
It's nearly impossible to even see its color
Longing to turn into a beautiful rose

Day Two: A rose partially bloomed
Surrounded by beautiful colors of red, yellow, white, and pink
Each a little different - just coming into the light
Yearning for water and sunshine
Wanting to blossom fully as some around it seem to have done

Day three: A beautiful rose bush!
Petals stretching out toward the sky
Flowers of all shapes and colors
Working together to make God's masterpiece
Waiting to see the world and share its beauty
Hoping others will appreciate all it has become

P.S. to Jake... where's my picture of me reading it? HEY! You shoulda got a pic of me handing them the poem at TAP 1! Like an award or something! Darn it! *shake my head and snap* Oh well. Too late now. ;-) <3
